Connect live travel search.
This is the one-time setup for the website owner. Travelers will search inside the planner after the connection is ready.
1. Create your Duffel account
Duffel supplies flight, hotel, and rental-car search results. Create your account, verify your email, and follow its account activation process to request live access.
Duffel may charge for live searches and other usage. Review its current terms before enabling live mode; access is subject to provider approval.
2. Request hotel and rental-car access
Ask Duffel to enable Stays and Cars for your account. Flight access alone does not guarantee access to these services. Explain that you are building a local travel planner with search results and saved options; confirm that this use is supported.
3. Add the token on this computer
In the Duffel dashboard, open More → Developers → Access tokens. Start with a test token. Search requests need permission to create offer/search requests. Once approved, use a live token for real prices.
In the project folder, copy .env.example to a file named .env (or token.env). Open that file locally and paste your token after the equals sign:
DUFFEL_ACCESS_TOKEN=your_token_here
Keep this file beside server.mjs, outside dist/. Do not paste the token into chat, website files, or browser storage.
4. Restart and try a search
Stop the running local server, then run this command from the project folder:
npm start
Open the local Trip Planner, create a trip, and search. Test tokens return clearly labeled test results. Live tokens require an activated account and the appropriate product access.
This version searches and saves options. It does not purchase tickets or create reservations. Saving an option does not lock its price; checkout and payment are not connected.
